At A Glance

WHAT IS THE MILTON DISTRICT?
The Milton District is a geographic region of northern Fulton County, bordered on the south by Old Alabama and Holcomb Bridge Roads and by Cherokee, Forsyth, and Gwinnett Counties on the west, north, and east sides.  The district was created in 2003 with the split of the North Fulton District.  The Milton District includes all of Alpharetta, Johns Creek, and Milton, and some of Roswell.

THE MILTON DISTRICT HAS OVER:
•    2,150    Youth in Alpharetta, Johns Creek, Milton, and Roswell.
•    1,350    Cub Scouts (boys) in the 1st through 5th grades,
•       750    Boy Scouts (boys) in the 6th through 12th grades,
•         50    Venturers (boys and girls) in the 9th grade through age 20.
•      95%    of Webelos scouts join Boy Scout troops at the end of 5th grade.
•       950    Registered men and women volunteers.

SCOUTING IS SUPPORTED BY CHARTERED ORGANIZATIONS:
•    19   Religious Institutions
•      5   Businesses
•      3   Other non-profit organizations
•      1   School

ADVANCEMENT IS A BIG PART OF THE PROCESS OF DEVELOPING GOOD CITIZENS:
•    36 Boy Scouts earned the Rank of Eagle in 2006.
•    40 Boy Scouts earned the Rank of Eagle in 2007.
•    38 Boy Scouts earned the Rank of Eagle as of July 31, 2008.
•    1,961 Merit Badges were awarded in 2007.

SCOUTING WORKS:
•    2006: A Cub Scout (age 10) received the Medal of Merit for saving his mother’s life using the choked airway sequence of CPR.
•    2006:  A Scout received the Council Certificate of Merit for immediate first aid in saving the vision of a hurt boy.
•    2008: 2 Scouts received the Medal of Merit for retarding a house fire and were credited with saving the house.

THE MILTON DISTRICT EMPHASIZES ADULT TRAINING:
•    In the 12 months ending July 2008 - 14 training courses were offered with 320 leaders attending

THE MILTON DISTRICT CAMPS:
•    100% of troops in district attended summer camp in 2008.  Most troops camp 11 months a year. 
•    Cub Camping:  over 450 youth (Cub Scouts, sibling campers and Boy Scout volunteers) attended 2008 Cub Day and Twilight Camps.  Most packs camp 2 months each year.
